1. What scale should I choose?
What scale you choose is dependent on several factors.

First, the subject you want may not be available in every scale, so that may limit your choice.

Second, the finished size will depend on the scale. This may also be decided on your final use of the model. If its to be on a shelf, or a desk display, then you would not want something too large. However, a museum or more public display in a large space may require a much larger scale. In the initial consultation, we will discuss scale and I will help you select the appropriate one if you are not sure. For a general scale-size comparison, see chart to the right or click here for a larger photo.

2. Can I provide the kit for you to assemble?
Yes, you may. You can provide as much or as little as you are able. If I need to order anything, including supplies or extra accessories, I do so by shopping among discount websites that I personally have been a customer of, and pass the savings on to you.

3. How long can I expect my project to take?
Every project is unique and requires different time lines. Some can be done in a matter of weeks, other may take much longer. Contact me with your specific needs and I can provide a rough time estimate.

base options4. Could I get my model put on a base? Can I choose the color of base?
Absolutely, and for many models a simple wooden base comes standard with my finishing.

I can also mount squadron patches, emblems, and do scenic bases with soil and grass. If you have specific desires or colors for your base, contact me about your project.

The samples to the right are just a few examples of what is possible!

5. Do you research for accuracy of construction and detailing?
Yes, I will do basic research as part of every project to make sure the colors and markings used are authentic. Also I can recommend particular kits based on their accuracy, and can also make improvements to the original kit as needed. I have access and familiarity with many resources, so you can be assured that your finished model will be accurate.

6. What is weathering?
Weathering is the effects of weather, sun, combat, and daily use on a vehicle or article. On a scale model, various techniques are used to replicate these effects. This can run the spectrum of a fully rusted out vehicle in a junk yard, a old barn with faded and peeling paint, to just the dust of dry countryside, to a few small oil stains on a brand new airplane.

This is the stage of scale model construction that makes the minature look so lifelike. Of course I can weather to your specific direction, replicating exactly what you envision on your project.

7. Can you do custom markings?
Yes, I can, with good images of what is desired. Also for many scale models available in kits, there are 100’s of markings available commercially that can be used. Contact me with what you are looking for and I will find the best option for you.

8. Do you offer repairs on a model that I already own?
Yes, I can both repair and restore models you currently have in your collection. I have many tools and skills that allow me to work in plastic, wood, and brass and can do repairs and restorations on all of the above. Please contact me with specifics and we can work up a solution.

9. How much does a custom scale model cost?
Due to the uniqueness of each model I produce, it is difficult to give a general cost. However, contact me and ill be happy to give an estimate based on your specific project.

10. Do you require a deposit?
Yes, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to begin work on the project.

11. What payments do you accept?
Visa/ Mastercard (through Paypal), Personal Check, Money Order (International Money Order if outside the US), and Paypal are all accepted payments.

12. Can I pay in installments?
Yes, you can pay installments during the course of the project, and longer projects will have a payment schedule. Final delivery of the model will happen when Final payment is made.

13. When is my final payment due?
Final payment is due within 30days of the completion of the project. A final invoice, which will reflect the deposit and any installments will be sent with the balance due.

14. How do you ship a finished model?
I will ship via USPS, UPS, or FedEX depending on the best price/ service for the size of the package. You will only be charged the shipping cost plus a packing fee (which covers the cost of the packing materials). Packages are always shipped with insurance to protect your investment. Finished models are packaged in a proven method (which I use to transport my own works), using a soft stuffing material and a double box. Some details like antennas will be left off and packaged separately inside the same box.

15. What happens to my model if it gets damaged in shipping?
As with any shipping method, there are occasionally minor damages, however these usually amount to small items popping loose such as bombs on aircraft, or bags/crates on a tank. I am happy to walk you through any repair needed, and if there is major damage, you can return the model back to me inside the original packaging for a full repair.
